Placement Tests
Math placement tests are required for all new students enrolling in Home Education Academy Math Classes Grades 7 & Up.
English placement tests are required for all new students enrolling in Home Education Academy English Classes Grades 8 & Up.
Students currently enrolled in our Math and English classes do not need to complete a test for the following year.
The purpose of placement tests is to provide a realistic view of the student's strengths and weaknesses so an accurate class placement can be made. Class placement is based on readiness as evidenced on the placement test NOT on a student’s grade level or age. At times, students are often placed in a class at a lower level than anticipated so that the skills needed for future success will be firmly set. It may also be necessary for the student to brush up on the skills necessary over the summer to prepare them for their class in the fall.
For Math: Parents are required to proctor their student while they are completing every section of the Saxon Math placement test.
Parents must grade their student’s test with the Saxon answer keys.
Parents are responsible to select the appropriate level of Math Class based on readiness as evidenced in their student’s placement test. Please do not try to push your child ahead. This will not serve them and can be very harmful.
For English: Parents are required to proctor their student while they are completing every section of the English placement test.
Parents must submit the English placement test to Home Education Academy instructors per the instructions on the test.
